a plea to my peeps

So I have a lot of tile in my home, I mean a lot a lot, and I'm sick and tired of sweeping it. Does anybody have a recommendation on one of those mini-vacuums that's supposed to work on hard floors? I've looked at a few but just don't know what direction to go.

Next issue, I have some gorgeous wood salad tongs and they're supposed to be treated with oil every few months. What type of oil do I use? And where do I get said oil?

Thanks for your help!!!

The following story is not for the weak stomached. Consider yourself warned!!

My oldest has an issue with picking his nose and eating it. Anyone who knows me and my aversion to boogers understands that this is more difficult for me than the average person, so of course Jason likes to egg it on as much as possible. During one of these "snacking" incidents while I'm lecturing Isaac on why he shouldn't be eating them, Jason breaks in with "Hey Isaac, what do they taste like?" to which Isaac responds "Watermelons!!!" If that's the case I guess I can't really blame the kid.

(shudder, gag, vomit)

Merry Christmas

The following post is more for the family members who weren't around for Christmas day (which is all of them), so feel free to ignore the gratuitous photos of my adorable boys if you're not interested.

Christmas Eve we made Pizza for dinner

Waiting for the pizza to be done was almost as exciting as waiting for Santa!

Then I sent the boys on a scavenger hunt through the house

That ended with some presents!!

It was just their new Christmas pajamas!! That's quite the pose Mac!!

Christmas Morning!!!

Here I caught the boys messing with the video camera before dad had made it downstairs. But they tried to pretend like they weren't

"Look Daddy, look!!! See what I got? LOOK!!!" (Jason is somewhere in there!)

We had a wonderful Christmas, but as always we missed having family around!! We hope you all enjoyed your holiday!!

Poor Isaac

I was trying to get Isaac psyched for Christmas tomorrow but it back fired in a horribly depressing way. He started out excited that Santa was going to come tonight and he'd be able to open gifts tomorrow, but then when he declared "and it's gonna snow!!", I had to set him straight and tell him that in fact it wouldn't be snowing because we lived in a desert. He hung his head and walked away. I asked him where he was going and through his tears he said "I just need to be alone for a few minutes."

Poor, poor, Isaac having such a cruel mommy that hates the snow!!

Well, I'm done with finals!!! It is such a relief to put those classes behind me, although this semester is going to look like a cake walk compared to my next semester. But this isn't what I'm wanting to blog about, I have a life lesson for you...

After finishing my final today I went and sold my books back. I got almost $200.00, which is darn good if you're not familiar with the system. Then on the way home I got pulled over and was given a ticket that's gonna cost me just over $200.00.

So what is the life lesson you ask? The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Or maybe even more important than that, cops hide in the park next to the freeway exit and catch people who make illegal right hand turns.

I want to blog I really do, but I just don't really have anything to say. Shocking I know. Maybe it's because I have finals next week, maybe it's because christmas is two weeks away and I'm not even halfway done with my shopping, or maybe I've just finally run out of hot air (nah, that's not it). In any case, please don't abandon ship. I will return to my old self shortly I'm sure!! Or maybe what I need to do is turn the TV off so my kids will actually be able to use their brains and entertain me!! Nah, they'd interfere with studying that way. Sorry for the rambling, here are some pictures to hold you over until my next hilarious post!!!

And I always thought he looked like me!

In case you ever questioned who Cormac's father is let the following picture's help reassure you.

This is Jason as a child

These are Cormac.....

People who actually see Cormac regularly don't even need to look at the last 2 pictures, they just had to re-read the caption under the first picture 5 times to make sure they read it right. I don't know about you, but I swore when I saw that picture!!! I can't believe what a dead on match he is to his daddy. And we always thought Isaac was Jason's mini-me and Cormac resembled me more!!

Those darn brains!!

This is the story I heard from my oldest this morning.

"Mom my brain wont think about getting dressed, it just keeps thinking about playing."

I hate when that happens, and heaven knows it happens frequently for me.

I switched teams......

and no one was more surprised than my husband. After all we've been married 7 years. How could I change like this on him? But seriously, after seeing the movie who wouldn't be on team Edward??!!!

The intense look in his eyes just did something for me. Now like so many other women out there I'll be pouring glitter on my husband just so he'll look more like Edward Cullin.

P.S. The movie was good too!

Remember when I told you all about my childhood dream to be a back-up dancer for Tina Turner? You can read about it here if you don't. Well, I have a new dream. To be a dancer in this Beyonce video.

Why do I dream of shaking my ass on stage?

How you know your child has outgrown Dora.

Anyone who has ever watched Dora The Explorer knows that it's obnoxious. Dora is constantly asking the same question over and over. Well, Isaac has finally noticed this too. Here's what I heard......
Dora-"now we need to find snowy mountain"
Isaac-"there it is"
Dora-"Do you see snowy mountain?"
Isaac-"it's behind you"
Dora-"where's snowy mountain?"
Isaac-"RIGHT THERE BEHIND YOU!!!!!!!!!"

Sick Day!

Isaac woke up this morning with a pretty ugly cough. It sounds a bit croup like to me. When I told him he wouldn't be able to go to school because he was coughing like a sea lion, he got really mad and told me "I can handle this walrus cough myself! I'm going to school."
Of course he didn't go to school but I did try and make it better by offering to watch Star Wars with him. He has never seen the movies and we decided that he should watch them in the same order that we all saw them, Episode 4,5,6, then 1,2, and 3. Today we were watching 5 and 6 (he saw 4 last weekend). Can I just tell you that I have the cutest five year old on the planet?! He CRIED when he found out that Darth Vader was Luke's father, then again during episode 6 when Darth Vader saved Luke proving he was still good. Then full on bawled when Anikan joined Yoda and Obiwan in the after life. Not that I can blame him on that one 'cause I bawled like a baby too. I love Star Wars!!!! But he was so into the movies and got so excited and here is the proof.......

Do you see how baggy those unders are? This is because when he gets excited he grabs the legs of his unders and pulls out and up. Those things are practically collates!!

And yes I'm allowing my children to play outside in their underwear in the middle of November. He's already sick, what else could happen?

It's almost like he's a guru

I've been trying to ween Cormac off being by my side every second of every day. Today as I was getting ready to use the bathroom I told him he should give me some privacy and go sit in the corner. I pointed to a corner of my room where an empty overnight bag sat. He walked over to the corner looked in the bag and said "It's all gone, you don't have anymore privacy." Then walked past me into the bathroom to take his place next to the toilet paper roll.

Truer words have never been spoken. In fact I think they should have a sign that says that on the doors of the maternity ward so you can see it as you leave the hospital with your new baby.

I would also like to take this moment to thank my friend Holly who shared the term "sunshine hair" with me, because this boy definitely has sunshine hair.

Super!!!

Cormac has a lisp, that might actually be putting it mildly. I can't even begin to explain what this speech impediment is but I captured it on video for you. The best is when I ask him to say "super" because not only do you hear the lisp but for some reason he really struggled to get the word out. You can stop watching after that but trust me you want to hear the super!!!
And let me just apologize now for how loud and obnoxious my voice is on the recording, I know it's bad but what can you do, I recorded on a digital camera and I was right next to it!!

My children are at difficult ages. I may start graying any day now. Here are some conversations that I've had with them in the last week.

I picked out a shirt for Isaac that looks like a short sleeved shirt is over a long sleeved shirt (it's 75 degrees here, we're freezing), so I hand it to him and he puts it on and then says "Mom!!! I'm 5!!"
me-"I know. Why?"
him-"Look at this shirt!!" he then starts pointing to the fake long sleeves and the short sleeve.
me-"what's wrong with it?"
him-"I'm 5!!!!" he then stormed off.

It's not like it's a onesie and bib!!! I thought it was a rather attractive shirt, but what do I know about what's cool for 5 year olds?!

Cormac is 2 and therefore a little bi-polar. We were leaving a grocery store the other day and as we step into the street he has a full on cow and starts screaming that he needs to hold me. That's fine, I pick him up and before I even have him situated on my hip he has another cow that he doesn't want to be held!!!! Make up your mind dude!!!!

Cormac also has a new favorite saying and it is "no idea!!!" and he has no idea how to use it. The nanny got here yesterday he runs up to her "no idea carla, no idea!!" We're driving in the car and out of no where "no idea!!!" He's yelling at Isaac to share his toys " It's not nice! you share! NO IDEA!!!"

smell my feet

As promised here are some pictures of the boys trick or treating. I don't have a very good camera so the night pictures don't turn out well, but you can still tell they were the most adorable ones out there.

Does anyone else feel their house looks like a crime scene right now? Where a gruesome attack occurred and there weren't any survivors?

We believe the attack started here in the formal dining room. Just a few feet past the front door.

Here is a piece of evidence found not far from where the attack first began. There is a lollipop stick and what looks to be a chocolate smear (we can hope that's what it is anyways!!) We continue to find lollipop sticks in this exact state through out the house.

Here is the stained clothing.

Here we find the remnants of a lollipop that came to a grizzly end.

Then there are the chocolate fingerprints throughout the house.

But don't worry folks, we have a suspect in custody.

He clearly feels no remorse for the crime he just commited!!

Happy Halloween!!!

Here's a few pictures I got this morning before Isaac went to school. Don't worry, there will be more tomorrow after we trick-or-treat!!!

The Jedi master and the Storm trooper preparing for battle.

The cutest Yoda I've ever seen!!!

Are you kidding me?!

So here's how this went down. I'm at the computer wasting time on facebook like I always am these days when my youngest comes to me and says "look mom the money's gone. See??" He then opens his mouth really wide and points down his throat!!!
me-"did you eat money?!"
him-"yes!!!" He was very proud of himself.
me-"you can't eat money, it's bad for you!!!"
him-"it's bad?!"
me-"yes"
him-"okay mommy!!" and he walks away.

Not even two days later he comes to me again and says "look mom the money's gone. See??!"

So if my child comes running past you and it sounds like a piggy bank, you'll know why!!!! Maybe he's just really smart and realizes it's the best place to put money right now with the economy the way it is!!!

A small confession, followed by a funny story!!

I'm kind of a mean mom. When my kids ask for something unnecessary like a fruit snack or a sticker I make them sing me a song or do a dance or some other form of mild humiliation. Today when my children asked me for string cheese I told them they had to shake their booty first. Cormac of course started shaking his booty and singing the song "shake your booty, shake your boooooooty." Isaac on the other hand started doing something a little different, he would stick his booty out really far and then jump and then finish with his booty out really far again.
I said "wow, that's a new booty shake!!!"
He said "yeah, it's better than your booty shake"
me-"that's not very nice to say"
him-"it's okay I still love you, but my booty shake is better than yours and you should start doing it my way."

At least he still loves me!!!

Torn

I've been very torn these last few days because I HATE Kanye West. I think he's a moron and really annoying, and for those reasons I have avoided all his music. But then I heard Gold Digger and it just spoke to me, or maybe of me. Then I heard Stronger, again it just speaks to me and my head starts boppin and my hands start waving and the next thing I know I'm in a full on booty shake!!!

I hate when my booty doesn't obey my brain!!!

I didn't think it was possible

But, I managed to find one more thing to do instead of housework, or homework or anything of real value!!! I joined Facebook!!!! Yes, I'm already on myspace and I have this blog and I'm thinking of starting another. I have 2 email accounts and subscribe to various email lists (mostly to stores I can't quite afford). And that's generally how I spend my days. What are you going to do about it? That's what I thought. Now, go join facebook and look me up because I really need friends!!!

Pumpkin Painting

Last night we did our annual pumpkin painting. I would really like to get away from the painting and start carving since we now have a house, however Isaac insists on painting. Here is what we created!!!

an artist at work!!

"I think I like this color because I'm sure it's the most difficult to get out of anything!!"

The after-mess

Our finished products. Here is what Isaac had to say about them "mommies is a clown, daddies is too scary and mine and Cormac's are just painted." By the way, both my children had nightmares about pumpkins last night. Way to go Jason, you just won father of the year!!!

Friday, October 17, 2008

this could be the start of something really bad!!!

I cannot even begin to count the number of times in the last week that Isaac has informed he is now a big boy because he is 5, but last nights explanation just takes the cake!!!! I was making him pick up his toys when he tells me "I don't need you to tell me what to do anymore, I'm 5 and I don't need your help. Big boys just have their own plans and ideas and their mommies don't need to tell them what to do anymore."

He also got a hold of my camera again. He takes the best self-portraits!!!

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Things you just don't expect to hear from your 2 year old!!!

"That's good porn!!!"

"I love porn!!!"

"I want porn!!!"

By the way, porn is how he pronounces corn!!!

Isaac's Birthday Party

We had a fantastic weekend for Isaac's birthday!! I unfortunately (for me anyways) did not get alot of pictures. but believe me when I say we had a blast. It started with Isaac's actual birthday on Friday. My parents came into town especially for his birthday and it happened to be crazy hair day at school!! That night we had a BBQ where I made his favorite dish, lemon chicken, and then we opened presents. Let me tell ya this was bigger than Christmas!! Holy Cow is this little boy loved. He is completely decked out in Star Wars gear and he couldn't be more thrilled.

On Saturday we had his birthday party. We went to a place called Bounce U, they have all the blow up bounce toys, and we had an entire room to ourselves!!! I don't know if the kids had any fun but believe me, the adults had a blast!!!!

On Sunday we went to the Schnepf Farm pumpkin patch, and for all my Maryland readers, this place put Baughers to shame!!!! Isaac and Cormac rode their first roller coaster which was interesting. They had tons of fun rides and activities, the food was less than appetizing, but otherwise it was fantastic. Then of course we got to pick our pumpkins which was probably the boys favorite part. I unfortunately completely forgot my camera that day so I don't have any pictures, (lucky you).
