How Fascinating

I recently found the coolest blog ever. It's called postsecret and I am completely addicted. A guy in Maryland started it a few years ago initially as an art project where he handed out postcards and asked people to put their secrets on it anonymously and then mail it back to him. Well it caught on in a huge way and now he has a blog where he posts the secrets. He also has published 3 books, does art exhibitions, and talks at colleges. Some of the secrets are funny and some of them absolutely make me cry. It has also made me think about my own secrets both funny and disturbing. So if you are looking for a voyeuristic afternoon activity (and who isn't?) check it out here. I also put a link to it under my other bloggers feature so you'll always have a place to connect with it.

the joys of a four year old

I don't know if he learned it in school or if it just comes naturally for him but Isaac is very expressive with his emotions, especially when he's angry. This has created some fantastic moments recently that had me laughing so hard I cried. Of course I had to go to my room so that Isaac wouldn't see that I thought his behavior was amusing, but it was classic all the same. These outbursts usually came after he was told he couldn't do something like play video games or go outside in his underwear.

the first outburst......
"Mom, we're not friends anymore. You made me mad and I don't want to ever talk or play with you again. WE'RE NOT FRIENDS!!!!" He then folded his arms and stormed off to his room.

the second outburst.....
"You are a bad daddy! you made me angry and that made me cry so you are a bad daddy!!" all this while he was shaking his finger at his father.

the third outburst.....
"Cormac you need a time out!!! I'm so mad at you baby, go to your room until you can be nice!" (I think that line he got from me.)

the fourth outburst.....
me-"Isaac you need to clean your room"
Isaac-"mom, I don't like that word and I don't want to ever hear you say it again."
me-"what word, clean your room?"
Isaac-"yes, that's a very naughty word and if you say it again you'll have to be in trouble, because it's not nice and you don't say it. It makes me very angry when you do that"
It was a nice try but it didn't work, he still had to clean his room. I was very impressed with the effort though, I wish I had been that inventive as a child.

Isaac really is an awesome kid and we are having so much fun with him. His vocabulary seems to double everyday and I love the stories he can now share with us. I can't believe my baby is so big, it went way too fast.

Dreams of Long Ago

I'm a huge Tina Turner fan, have been my whole life. The first song I remember loving and singing was "What's love got to do with it" and I think I was about 2 or 3. Anyways, when I heard that she had performed "Proud Mary" with Beyonce at the Grammy's I immediately looked up the performance on youtube and was reminded of my biggest childhood dream......to be a dancer for Tina Turner, especially during "Proud Mary". No ballerina or teacher for this girl, I wanted to shake my ass with Tina!!! For those of you who are not familiar with the choreography here is a clip of her performing the song. She has been performing this song since she was with Ike and very little has changed. This is a slightly toned down version but it was the shortest clip and you could see the dancers the best.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Let Me Count the Ways

Cormac is in my favorite stage right now. I love the toddler years, they do and say the cutest things. Here are just a few of the reasons I adore my Macaroni

  • when he's hungry he comes to me and says very demandingly with a pointed finger "cook"
  • two of the words he knows, Coke (that's my boy) and penis (that's Jason's boy)
  • when he's done eating he gives a big fake burp
  • he finds the most creative places to put his sippy-cups (see below picture)
  • he has a sinister laugh that kind of goes like this, ohh-ho-ho in a really throaty voice. and it means he is genuinely happy
  • his belly looks as though he is roughly 12 months pregnant
  • he has beat the snot out of his older brother once or twice when he really deserved it
  • he calls me "Nonny" which is hilarious to a select few people who know me
  • his favorite hairstyling product..yogurt. and I don't just mean he gets yogurt in his hair when he eats it. he grabs a handful rubs it together and very precisely styles his hair. kinda sticky but smells delicious
obviously I could go on and on for hours but I'll stop there and let some pictures do a little more talking.

This is his 5th bowl of cheerios that morning, it was not his last he had 2 more!!

gotta love that grin
