A perfect Sunday morning.

I think we had a perfect sunday morning yesterday. Well, it was my perfect Sunday morning anyways.

The kids allowed Jason and I to sleep in until 8:30!!!! It was heavenly, and also a little pathetic that 8:30 is considered sleeping in. Anyways, Jason made the morning even sweeter when he said "what can I do for you today baby?" and I answered "Joe's Farm Grill please!!!"

This may not sound that fantastic to you but trust me, if you could eat there you would!! Here's a little background to maybe help you understand. You see the thing is, I don't like breakfast, well breakfast foods anyways. But, a couple weeks ago my friends and I went out for some brunch and they took me to Joe's, and well I've craved it every morning since!!! But it's not just the food, it's a fun place to eat. They have a huge shaded area outside and it's the perfect place to enjoy a late breakfast if I do say so myself. This place is so good it even made it onto the show Diners, Dives, and Drive-ins on the Food network.

So we went to Joe's Farm Grill. Nuff said, it was the perfect Sunday morning.

Cheese!! Notice Isaac's "cheese" isn't the least bit enthusiastic.

He was apparently embarrassed to be seen with us so he went and found his own table.

Yummy!!

And then there was this dirt hill which kept them occupied for a good 45 minutes. I'm telling ya, Disneyland has nothing on this dirt patch!!!

I'm old

I've never thought of 26 as old, but I was corrected the other day in my math class. I'm in a pre-calculus class with mostly 18 year old kids who just graduated high school in May. We work in groups and I am with 3 of these kids that just graduated. We finished our little work-sheet first and the teacher came by to make sure we had it correct. One of the kids says "yeah, we're legit."
and I say "too legit to quit."
The other girl in the group says "oh, I love that movie!!"
I say, "what are you talking about?"
She says "Talladega Nights, that's where you got that from, right?"
I said, "no, I got it from the MC Hammer song, Too Legit To Quit" (I did the hand movements with it, and I know you all know what I'm talking about).
I got nothing but blank stares from these kids!!! There is a whole generation out there that thinks Will Ferrell made that up!!!
I decided to put my dentures back in, wrap my shawl more tightly around my shoulders and wait for my imminent death from old age.

and the winner is........

I don't know if you really care, but just in case someone out there is wondering, I chose this duvet.....

.
It really is my favorite and I know this because even though Jason likes a different one better, I don't really care. I love this one. I'm ordering it from Anthropologie as we speak!!!

Do you hear that?

They are building a house across the street from us so there are all sorts of crazy pounding and machinery noises going everyday. This morning there happened to be a very large truck with some sort of crane like device on it. And then this lovely little exchange between me and my youngest occurred.

him-"do you hear that?"
me-"yes."
him-"is that a dinosaur?"

help!!!!

I'm in the market for new bedroom linens and I've narrowed it down to two. I need all my wonderful readers to now tell me what to do. First is this beauty.

This set sings to me. When I saw it I gasped and shed a little tear, this is all my duvet cover dreams come true!!! But what color do I paint the walls? While I like the yellow in the background of the picture, it's not really what I want for my room. Would a bright aqua-ish blue work? And what color curtains do I go with? And also the two pillows put together at the front of the bed to form a large flower, yea or nay?

Then there is this one.

I also think this one is very pretty and I know exactly what I could do with my curtain and wall color choice. Anything, because the duvet is neutral. I also like that I could technically play a lot more with my room and the accessories, switch it up if you will. I could go with a bright blue accent pillow and curtains one week, and then switch it with a lovely green the following week.

So tell me what to do. Do I go with the one that makes my heart flutter, or the more practical one that is versatile and that someone with my design capabilities can handle?

Here's a quick commenting lesson so that everyone can leave me a little comment. See at the bottom right corner of this post, it says comment. Click on that, type something and then sign it with your name. There are three choices of how you can leave it, blogger ID something else, and anonymous, go ahead and leave it as anonymous. Or don't even sign your name and just leave it anonymous, I want to hear from everyone please!!!!

And I thought he never listened

I was struggling to get my camera to turn on so I could take a picture of Isaac. In my frustration I say "there's something wrong with my stupid camera, I think it's broken".

To which Isaac responds, and I quote because heaven knows he did, "I don't think you took very good care of it, because when you don't take care of things they break."

I did by the way get the camera to work, and here's the picture I was wanting to take.
I think he inherited my crazy right eye!!

Is it just me?

I'm wondering if any of my readers have this problem too. Do you get asked if you are your childrens older sister, regularly? I realize I look younger than my years (and actually am young), but do I look that young? I'm also wondering if you have suggestions of what I could do to give the impression of maturity. I patiently wait your response (read as: I will be checking my blog every 10 minutes hoping someone comments). thank you, and enjoy your weekend.

Holy Heart Failure Batman!!!!

It was a peaceful night, everyone in the house sound asleep when suddenly we hear what sounds like a very large and heavy item being slid across concrete, then it stops. Then we hear bom, bom, bom, again silence. Then a strange voice yells "oh yeah baby!!!" followed by an ear-piercing scream from one of my children. Jason and I are completely out of bed at this point and running towards the screams. Then the voice speaks again, "This is the moment of the night" followed by another scream. It's then that we realize we know this voice, and those sounds, it's the monster truck video turned up full blast on surround sound.

Our two year old woke up in the middle of the night, made his way downstairs in pitch-blackness, found the monster jam video, got it in the DVD player, turned on the receiver and then turned the volume to the loudest it goes!!!! Again, in complete darkness!!!!!

To me the best part of the whole story is that it was only when the announcer said something that he screamed, and I'm not kidding about the ear-piercing part either. He was screaming like his life depended on it. He still tells me at least twice a day that monster truck movies are scary. And just so you don't think Cormac just stood there and screamed waiting for his death, he did meet us about halfway between our room and the TV in a dead run. I was very impressed with the way Jason was able to scoop him up without breaking stride on his way to turn the sound off. There's nothing sexier than a man protecting his offspring, even if it's just from a monster truck movie!!

My Closet: A Love Story

This is my closet. I will be profiling it today so that you can understand my love for it. Yes, there are two separate doors into it, Jason's side and my side.

This is my Side of the closet. Notice how bare it is, I don't even come close to owning enough clothing to fill it. I think I need to go shopping

This is Jason's side of the closet. Notice how organized and perfect it is. Can we say anal retentive? But that's why I love him, and why I occasionally feel like punching him in the nose. But at least he now has his own space and he can stop bugging me about mine!!
This is the middle shelf that separates the two areas of the closet. The boys love this feature, they could spend hours in there playing, except their father worries they might mess up the organization he has going on. I kid.

sigh........... I love my new house.

walking with the dinosaurs

If you get the chance to go to the Walking With The Dinosaurs show I highly suggest you do it. It was so cool and every childs dream come true. If you haven't heard of it, it's a show where they have life size electronic puppets of dinosaurs. Isaac and I went today and had an absolute blast!! I unfortunately forgot my camera and all I had was my cell phone but you get the basic idea right? That first picture is T-rex.

These are the Brachiosaurous and Isaac's favorite. We were in the second row so they were directly over us. Too cool!!!

This is an allosaurous, many people would mistake it for a T-rex but it is actually an ancestor of the T-rex and lived as many years before T-rex as T-rex lived before humans. (how's that for making you feel small and insignificant in this worlds history? and by the way I learned that from one of Isaac's books not the show)

And this is the pure joy that Isaac felt. I really wish the picture had turned out better because he is so beyond happy at this point. I live to make my children this happy!!!

p.s. I have no idea how to spell any of the dinosaur names so just sound it out!!!

Cormac- "What happened?"

Isaac- "MY BACK REALLY ITCHES AND I NEED YOU TO SCRATCH IT!!"

Cormac- "WHAT HAPPENED!!!???"

Isaac- "FINE!! I'll never ask you that again!!!!"

Cormac- "What happened?"

I'm BAAAAAAACK!!!

So I finally have internet in my home again and I couldn't be more thrilled!!!! It has been a long stressful couple of weeks and I had to take up chewing tobacco to cope with the withdrawal symptoms I experienced from not having my internet. (I didn't really take up chewing, but someone did suggest it to me) Anyways, I love my new house and we have everything unpacked and life is basically normal. We are working on decorating, however it's pretty low on our priority list right now so we don't work on it a lot. and mostly it's just me who's thinking about it, not really working on it.

I've had some great conversations with my kids recently and will post them in the coming weeks. But since you have lived so long with out hearing from me I'll share this little gem with you.

This morning Cormac was clearly pooping, red face, grunts and all, (can't wait until that kid is potty trained!!). I ask the beyond obvious question "are ya poopin?"

To which he responds, "I'm trying!!!!"

Brilliant!!!!!
