In his moment of struggle.........

all I did was grab the camera!!

"why don't you love me enough to help, mom?"

And the answer is, because it's so much more entertaining to watch!!!

Hello 2009!!!

Since I didn't send out Christmas cards with letters I thought I would sort of do that here. But if you are a regular reader of my blog this will probably just be an annoying re-cap of the last year.

We had a crazy year full of achievements and stress (they always seem to go hand in hand).
We started the year with a move from a house in North Phoenix to an apartment in Gilbert, we wanted to get ourselves situated and comfortable with the area before we made any big purchases. However, it became increasing clear that we had outgrown the apartment lifestyle, and nothing made this more clear to Jason than the random punches to his arm followed by a demand of "get me the hell out of this apartment!!!"

To help ease my nerves and get me away from my situation for a while I decided to go back to school. That's when we added a new addition to our family. Her name is Carla, and she is my life saver and the boys nanny!!! Oh how we love Carla and the 12 hours a week she spends here. School is going well for me and I am thrilled to be back at the grindstone working towards my goals.

In July Jason opened a new dental practice that has had amazing success. One month later Jason was able to save his arm from the brutal attacks and bought me my home!! I wish I could say we are all settled however, we still need loads of furniture to fill it. I should probably get around to hanging some pictures too.

The boys have also stayed busy and had a year of achievements too. They both learned to swim all by themselves without floaties. While we expected this of Isaac this year, we were quite shocked to have our little two year old jumping into the pool and taking off.

Isaac also started Pre-K this year and has done fantastic in school. He is learning to read and write and is really enjoying the experience. He also started karate and it has been fun to watch him advance through the belt rankings. He is currently a high-gold belt and getting ready to test into orange.

After some concern on my part about Cormac's speaking, or lack there of at the beginning of the year, he finally decided he had something to say and hasn't shut up since!! He is constantly trying to keep up with Isaac and has given me a nervous disorder in the process. He is a fun little boy who makes me laugh so hard every day. He is also quite the cuddle-bug and is always ready to hand out hugs and kisses and then say "thanks" afterward.

We really feel as though we have found our little place in the world and we couldn't be happier or more at peace. 2009, here we come!!!

a plea to my peeps

So I have a lot of tile in my home, I mean a lot a lot, and I'm sick and tired of sweeping it. Does anybody have a recommendation on one of those mini-vacuums that's supposed to work on hard floors? I've looked at a few but just don't know what direction to go.

Next issue, I have some gorgeous wood salad tongs and they're supposed to be treated with oil every few months. What type of oil do I use? And where do I get said oil?

Thanks for your help!!!

The following story is not for the weak stomached. Consider yourself warned!!

My oldest has an issue with picking his nose and eating it. Anyone who knows me and my aversion to boogers understands that this is more difficult for me than the average person, so of course Jason likes to egg it on as much as possible. During one of these "snacking" incidents while I'm lecturing Isaac on why he shouldn't be eating them, Jason breaks in with "Hey Isaac, what do they taste like?" to which Isaac responds "Watermelons!!!" If that's the case I guess I can't really blame the kid.

(shudder, gag, vomit)

Merry Christmas

The following post is more for the family members who weren't around for Christmas day (which is all of them), so feel free to ignore the gratuitous photos of my adorable boys if you're not interested.

Christmas Eve we made Pizza for dinner

Waiting for the pizza to be done was almost as exciting as waiting for Santa!

Then I sent the boys on a scavenger hunt through the house

That ended with some presents!!

It was just their new Christmas pajamas!! That's quite the pose Mac!!

Christmas Morning!!!

Here I caught the boys messing with the video camera before dad had made it downstairs. But they tried to pretend like they weren't

"Look Daddy, look!!! See what I got? LOOK!!!" (Jason is somewhere in there!)

We had a wonderful Christmas, but as always we missed having family around!! We hope you all enjoyed your holiday!!

Poor Isaac

I was trying to get Isaac psyched for Christmas tomorrow but it back fired in a horribly depressing way. He started out excited that Santa was going to come tonight and he'd be able to open gifts tomorrow, but then when he declared "and it's gonna snow!!", I had to set him straight and tell him that in fact it wouldn't be snowing because we lived in a desert. He hung his head and walked away. I asked him where he was going and through his tears he said "I just need to be alone for a few minutes."

Poor, poor, Isaac having such a cruel mommy that hates the snow!!

Well, I'm done with finals!!! It is such a relief to put those classes behind me, although this semester is going to look like a cake walk compared to my next semester. But this isn't what I'm wanting to blog about, I have a life lesson for you...

After finishing my final today I went and sold my books back. I got almost $200.00, which is darn good if you're not familiar with the system. Then on the way home I got pulled over and was given a ticket that's gonna cost me just over $200.00.

So what is the life lesson you ask? The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Or maybe even more important than that, cops hide in the park next to the freeway exit and catch people who make illegal right hand turns.

I want to blog I really do, but I just don't really have anything to say. Shocking I know. Maybe it's because I have finals next week, maybe it's because christmas is two weeks away and I'm not even halfway done with my shopping, or maybe I've just finally run out of hot air (nah, that's not it). In any case, please don't abandon ship. I will return to my old self shortly I'm sure!! Or maybe what I need to do is turn the TV off so my kids will actually be able to use their brains and entertain me!! Nah, they'd interfere with studying that way. Sorry for the rambling, here are some pictures to hold you over until my next hilarious post!!!

And I always thought he looked like me!

In case you ever questioned who Cormac's father is let the following picture's help reassure you.

This is Jason as a child

These are Cormac.....

People who actually see Cormac regularly don't even need to look at the last 2 pictures, they just had to re-read the caption under the first picture 5 times to make sure they read it right. I don't know about you, but I swore when I saw that picture!!! I can't believe what a dead on match he is to his daddy. And we always thought Isaac was Jason's mini-me and Cormac resembled me more!!

Those darn brains!!

This is the story I heard from my oldest this morning.

"Mom my brain wont think about getting dressed, it just keeps thinking about playing."

I hate when that happens, and heaven knows it happens frequently for me.
